We just got our new Cisco Nexus 7018 and this switch is a monster!
With the Panduit rack. The only rack for the Cisco Nexus
We are still trying to decide where we going to place this box in our data center. in the next few days/weeks I'll be posting some sample configurations on the Nexus.
We are also getting 2 more 6509E chassi with Sup 720 VSS, Cisco ACE, and Wireless Controllers. I'm very excited with all the new hardware that we are getting this year. Planning, planning, planning to make sure we do it right.

Switchport configuration for NEC DT700 for phone and PC
Last week I was struggling to find the switcport settings for the NEC DT700 for us to use with one cable going to the VOIP phone and PC with dual VLANS. After a couple of testing in my LAB I was able to to get the right configurations for the switchport. Below is a sample port settings in our Cisco 3750 switch for the NEC DT700.
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk allowed vlan 2,3
switchport mode trunk
auto qos voip trust
spanning-tree portfast
During my test I couldn't get an ip address from the DHCP server and I had to put ip helper address to each of the VLAN interfaces.
For the NEC DT700 enable VLAN and set the LAN settings to your voice VLAN and PC settings to your data VLAN. You can also enable CDP on the NEC DT700 if you like to see the devices connected to the switch using show cdp neighbor command.

My first night blogging
I finally was able to create my own blogging page. I always wanted to do this but couldn't get the time to do so. Hopefully I can post a lot of sample configurations and my day to day network troubleshooting skills here hoping to help others and for me to use this as my own documentation page that I can share with my colleagues. Last night I spent about 2 hours trying to look for the documentation for the NEC DT700 VOIP phone. I found a couple of them but it doesn't tell you how to config the cisco 3750 switches for dual VLANS with the NEC DT700 phones. The engineer who set this up for us couldn't tell us what type of switchport settings we should use. I'm suppose to be on vacation the whole week but I couldn't resist finding the solution to our issue so I decided to bring home one of our cisco 3750 switch and the NEC DT700. Tomorrow I will post the config on how I set up the cisco 3750 switch.
